Epic Heavy Metal band featuring frontman Vanni Cenni, an ex-member of JUDAS PRIEST covers band SHIVER and one for whom translating the Nordic mythology of their music transposes itself to his winged Viking helmeted onstage persona. WOTAN's first recordings, featuring guitarist Marco, drummer Tony and another erstwhile SHIVER man bassist Salvatore, surfaced as the 1992 demo cassette 'Thunderstorm', although the unit had been operational in formative line-ups since 1988. Defections from the membership in 1994 forced the group into a hiatus only broken in 1998 with the recruitment of guitarist Mario, previously a member of DEATHMASTER, and drummer Lorenzo. Their next showing would be in 2000 with the demo 'Under The Sign Of Odin´s Crows'.
The debut album 'Carminica Barbarica' would be recorded for the Greek Eat Metal label at Conqueror studios owned by DOOMSWORD. Their host's own Deathmaster would add his vocals in a guest capacity to the track 'Hussard De La Mort'.
