Kalajoki based Metal band IRONICA was initiated as IRONIA during 1999 by the
Rajala siblings, Esa and Jukka, on guitar with Jani Paavola handling bass. The
following year the group switched title to IRONICA and Jukka Rajala moved over
to the keyboard role. In 2001 Ville Palin took over the second guitar position
and Aki Herrala came in on drums. Shortly afterward, a female singer Minna
Matkaselkä was added and that December the group entered BRR Studios in Raahe
to record their inaugural demo 'Chasing The Melodies'.
The band first performed on stage in Kalajoki on 18th January 2002.
Subsequently, national military obligations stalled progress. Matkaselkä would
exit after just three gigs and Jani Paavola busied himself with side project
JOANNA'S DIARY. With army duties completed in 2003, IRONICA was
re-established, now seeing Jarmo Aho on lead vocals. In this incarnation, the
band crafted second demo 'Transparent'. A 2005 session, branded with a working
title of 'Project: Squirrel Pants', emerged fortunately billed as 'Trust'.
